Some questions answered
FAQ’s
How long have you been doing this?
I’ve been photographing weddings since 2009, and have photographed over 500 amazing weddings. I absolutely love what I do and the passion for capturing people’s wedding day has only grown for me over time. It’s a real privilege to be part of such a special day.
Will you be the photographer on the day?
Yes! I will be the photographer on your special day, from start to finish, not someone you haven’t met before.
Do you do Same Sex weddings?
Yes, absolutely.
How many hours do we need?
Every wedding is different but in general 8-9 hours is spot on to cover everything from getting ready to some party action :)
Do you offer albums?
Yes! I love albums and I think they are the best way to show off your amazing wedding day. Read all about my love for albums and how they come together over on the blog here: Wedding Albums
Are there any hidden costs?
No, none at all. All GST and costs are included in your package price including up to 350km travel from Sydney CBD. If you’d like to purchase additional prints or albums you can do that through a personalised online store.
Where should I get ready?
In sydney? The Langham - a really beautiful hotel with the biggest rooms in Sydney, wonderful textures and natural light. Otherwise a good air bnb with lots of natural light always works :)
When will we receive our photos?
28 days is the longest you will wait. I’ll send through a link to a password protected online gallery and your personalised online store where you can order prints
Where are you based? Do you travel?
Based in Cremorne/Mosman in Sydney. Happy to travel anywhere, and I try to keep these costs as low as possible. Travel within 350km is included in the package price.
Do you provide high resolution images?
Yes, all of the packages include high resolution artistically edited and processed photographs. You receive all images from your wedding day and there is no limit to the number that I shoot - you usually receive about 100 images per hour of photography so in general for an 8 hour day about 800 photographs. All images are yours to print how you wish :)
How much time should we dedicate for each part of the day?
As a very rough guide:
Prep: 30-60 mins each. This part of the day can vary a lot depending on how many people will be with you and what you would like to capture
Ceremony: 30-45 mins for civil ceremony, up to 90 mins for full mass.
Congratulations and family photos after the ceremony: 30 mins
Portrait session: I’ve done amazing portrait sessions in 15 minutes so there’s no need to spend hours away from your guests taking portraits. I recommend somewhere around 30-60 minutes and we could easily break this up into two parts, one pre/post ceremony and one at sunset for some variety of location and light.
Reception: varies a lot but around 2-5 hours is fairly normal. It’s great to capture the formalities and some party action so up until 9/10pm is usually spot on
Do you have backup equipment?
Yes, I’m a little over paranoid about back ups but better more than not enough, right? I always have two cameras, with each camera recording the exact same file to two memory cards incase one card fails. As well as that I carry 5 or so lenses and multiple flashes just incase.
Once I get your photographs back to the office they are backed up immediately to:
1: An encrypted cloud storage service (overnight, completed by morning)
2: My main hard drive
3: A second, seperate back up hard drive
So failing a nuclear apocalypse I think we’re good :)
What’s your style?
I’m very relaxed by nature and this comes through in my work. I like to make sure that you and your friends and family are having as much fun as possible - because when you’re having fun I’m getting great shots. I for sure give some direction to place people in the best light and the most flattering position. But I love to keep direction to a minimum, I feel the more someone is “posed” the more uncomfortable they are so instead rely on great humour and having a good time :)
Do we need a second photographer?
Short answer: Usually not but sometimes yes
Long answer: I photograph the majority of weddings on my own (around 80%), However, sometimes due to timing restrictions or number of guests (over 150) I recommend a second photographer. It can also be great to get a second perspective or to capture canapé hour and your reception room set up while off getting your portraits
Prioritise Your Priorities.
OK so this one isn’t a question but a suggestion :)
Want to hang out with your friends at canapés? let’s do it. Want your ceremony to be at sunset? No problem. Don’t let the wants of others distract from what you want out of the day.
If you want to join your guests for drinks in the afternoon before the reception, don’t be afraid to have an earlier ceremony. Yes the light wont be as glorious for the ceremony but do what you must to maximise that time.
We’ll get some absolute bangers for your wall or album (or insta) no matter what so nothing to worry about there.
Do you have insurance?
Yes $10mill public liability
When should we book you?
As soon as you’ve locked in your date you should lock in suppliers who are most important for your wedding day. Celebrants, video, photo, hair and makeup, florals etc. I am offering less days next year than ever before (see table below) so would suggest booking as far in advance as you can.
I offer a maximum of two weddings per week up to a maximum of 52 per year. I still have a some available days toward the end of 2024, so reach out if you’d like to check if your date is available.
Availabilities
2024 and 2025 are booking faster than normal please get in touch to see if your date is available to avoid disappointment.
