Engagement sessions
Have fun & enjoy every moment
Location & Timing
Choosing the right location plays a big part in making this photo shoot a session that is fun and personal. The location should be a reflection of you and your relationship. Do you love the sea or the bush? Or maybe that special place where you first met or you got engaged?
Some of my favourite spots are Balmoral Beach, Bradleys Head, Wendy’s Secret Garden in Lavender Bay, Clifton Gardens, Centennial Park & Milk Beach - but I also love to explore new spots so if there is a spot important to you, let me know.
Timing is easy, 1 hour before sunset or right on sunrise for the most epic light :) Check sunrise and sunset timings here
When to Book?
I think booking a 2-3 months our from your wedding is pretty great, but really anytime is OK. Follow the link below to book your engagement session today.
Wet Weather?
If the weather is not looking amazing I’ll give you a buzz around lunch time (or the afternoon before for sunrise sessions) to see if you’d like to go ahead or postpone - either way I’m always super happy to do which ever you would like.
Hair & Make up?
It’s totally up to you but the main thing is for you to be comfortable and relaxed. The look you might want for this session could be much more casual than wedding day hair/makeup so keep that in mind if trying to sync this session with your trial.
Have Fun!
It’s completely normal for you to have butterflies in your stomach when thinking about this photo shoot. You’ll probably wonder, “What’s it going to be like?” and “Will I look natural?” To be completely honest, this time is simply for you to be together and have fun. Be yourself, enjoy being an engaged couple and in the meantime I’ll take gorgeous photos.
This is all about capturing the two of you and your relationship. Let’s do this!
What to wear
It’s a big decision, trying to decide what to wear but my best piece of advice is this: I like to try an incorporate as much movement as we can so be comfortable!
Here’s a few tips:
First things first - wear something that feels right for you. You want to be able to move freely and not be too restricted while we move around.
Neutral tones are your best friends - soft, earthy hues or pastels can look stunning. Add a splash of colour through accessories or an element in your outfit.
Ya’ll don’t need to look like twins! Instead, aim for complementary colours or styles. Think of it as outfits that vibe together without feeling overly planned.
Steam or iron everything the night before and do a quick spot check for stains etc. Wrinkles for sure show in photos.
Adding layers or simple accessories can give your photos a little extra something—think cozy cardigans, scarves, or hats for colder shoots - or even matching sunnies for something fun 😎😎
Dress for the weather and the time of year! A light, breezy dress for spring or cozy sweaters for autumn can really set the mood.
Oh and try to avoid logos :)
The bottom line? Be yourselves! The more you feel like you, the more natural your photos will turn out
It’s so important to be yourself so don’t try and imitate something you saw on a blog, if it’s not you.
